After completing a thorough examination of the prairie dog, I was able to design a rest stop for hikers and other travelers. The structure is placed within a hill and has connections underground, like a prairie dog's burrow. Prairie dogs are social creatures so I designed a very open, sociable structure that allows light and ventilation into the private, underground spaces. This project demonstrates the importance of and benefits derived from drawing inspiration and knowledge from nature.
The model was built completely by hand.
